Progress at the World Trade Center
Stephen Nessen from WNYC.org continues to provide us with incredible photographs from all over New York City. One of the subjects to which he returns continuously is the World Trade Center site where he has been documenting photographically the progress being made.
Above are a few of his most recent shots (he clearly has no fear of heights!) and you can find more here at WNYC.org.

“I was excited to take shots of the sun rising up from the curvature of the earth,” he wrote in a message to Lens. “Monday night, I took this photo at about 9 p.m., on 9/10/01. For 12 more hours, they would stand as a tall beacon into the night sky of Manhattan. The next morning, I had overslept and missed the sunrise. Still on a mission to get to breakfast, I was on my way out the door when the first plane crashed.”

We will never forget the events of September 11, 2001 and, no matter how far the day recedes into history, the pain never lessens - it just becomes less raw.
These photos were taken by my friend Chris Pickle from her apartment on September 11, 2007.
