8.19.09 - We went hang gliding today but the winds did not work out too well. Only Elizabeth and Ethan got to fly so we have a “wind check” for Saturday AM so I can fly too. All things happen for a reason - perhaps the wind did not cooperate since my camera battery died (I know better!) I only got a few pictures before the camera shut down (see above). The dunes we flew from are the highest in the eastern United States.
The dunes are spectacular and I am looking forward to great photography opportunities on Saturday.
An interesting side note involves the “father” of the flexible wing, Francis Rogallo. Mr. Rogallo lives near Kitty Hawk and, at the age of 97, can still be seen on the dunes once in a while watching people enjoy his invention. Thank you Mr. Rogallo!
